Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about Senegalese Twist.

With good maintenance—regular moisturizing, nighttime wrapping, and avoiding heavy manipulation—Senegalese Twist can last six to eight weeks. Midback length may feel heavier; schedule touch-ups every 4–6 weeks and expect increased styling longevity if installed correctly by our experienced stylists.

When installed with low tension, proper parting, and maintained gently, Senegalese Twist should not cause significant damage. Avoid excessive tightness at the roots, keep scalp moisturized, and remove styles promptly if you notice thinning or discomfort to protect hair health.

Installation time varies by thickness, length, and size of twists; typically expect three to six hours. Midback length adds time; bring reference photos. We recommend booking accordingly—consultation available to estimate duration and plan for the $20 hair extension charge if required.

You can swim and exercise, but protect your twists: braid or bun hair, wear a swim cap, rinse and dry thoroughly after chlorinated or saltwater exposure, and reapply lightweight moisturizer to prevent buildup and drying.

Use diluted sulfate-free shampoo or co-wash at the scalp, focus rinsing to avoid tangling, and apply leave-in conditioners or light oils on the scalp and twists. Pat dry; avoid heavy products that cause buildup. Cleanse every one to two weeks.

Pre-colored synthetic hair cannot be dyed; human hair extensions can be colored by a professional. Ask our stylists about color options before installation. For synthetic hair, choose pre-shaded bundles or request custom colored human hair for the midback length option ($20 extra for hair).
