Get answers to common questions about Loc Retwist.
Most clients book Loc Retwist appointments every four to eight weeks depending on hair growth, style, and maintenance preferences. Tighter or newer locs may need more frequent care; looser styles can wait longer. We'll recommend timing during your consultation.
When performed correctly, a Loc Retwist should not thin locs. Our stylists use gentle techniques and natural products to avoid excess tension or unraveling. Repeated harsh manipulation or tight retwisting can risk thinning, so we tailor tension to protect hair integrity.
Yes — we can retwist natural locs beneath wig units when accessible. For safety and best results, we remove the wig, treat and retwist roots with natural products, then reinstall if requested. Book a consultation to assess wig type and technique needed.
Timing varies by loc thickness, size, and amount of retwisting needed. Most retwists take between 45 minutes and two hours. Please allow extra time for consultations, scalp treatments, or wig removal and reinstallation when applicable.
We use natural, residue-free products: botanical oils, aloe-based moisturizers, and light locking gels designed for loc maintenance. These nourish scalp and locs without buildup. If you have allergies or preferences, tell us and we’ll adjust products to suit your needs.
Protect your retwist by sleeping on a satin pillowcase or bonnet, avoiding heavy waxes, and limiting daily manipulation. Moisturize scalp and locs with light natural oils and follow our recommended wash schedule. Return for touch-ups to maintain neatness and healthy growth.
